I'm one of those girls that has always struggled with self-image. Always overweight. Always unpretty. Always critical of myself.
Since I was 16 I've always been striving for thinner, healthier, strength, elegance, flexibility, peace, clarity -- you name it, I've been looking.
I was always on a diet, trying the latest fad, bought the hyped up workout videos -- I've tried it all.
Were they successful? Well, can you call them successful if I had to find something else because gained all the weight back plus some? No.
Did I lose weight? Yes. I did. Numerous times. But every time I gained it back. Over and over and over again.
If you're young, believe people when they say "It's harder to lose as you get older." It will become true before you know it.
I have a strong belief that you are not old until you start to say, and think you are. Therefore, I won't say I'm old. At 29 years old, I haven't hit my big bad 30s yet, I haven't gotten married or had any kids, and I haven't stopped being a kid at heart.
If you think I haven't experienced life, you're wrong. I've experienced many highs and lows, that I will divulge into over time on an emotional sense, but what's more important at the moment is my highs and lows on the scale.
The Journey So Far
I don't remember how much I weighed when I was 16 and decided to use a popular weight loss program. I went to meetings and I was successful at losing weight. Truth is, it was too easy. My mom cooked my food, I took dance classes - Reaching my 135 pound goal at 5'9" came too easy.
College came and so did that Freshman 15. I must have tried at least 4 different diets throughout those 4 years, gaining and losing with each try.
After college, I decided that the first diet I ever did, would bring me success again. I was engaged to be married and wanted to lose weight for the wedding.
I had success again, and just before I reached my goal weight, the wedding and engagement were called off.
Depression set in, taking over my entire life. Food was unappealing to me and I was losing weight fast. I was down to 145 when I had to see a doctor about my disease.
Getting on some medications helped turn my life around, but I started to gain that weight back again, and there I was at 175 heading back into those meetings trying to lose weight again.
I made a GIANT change in my life, and one day decided to take a job I was offered in Florida and move there within the next 30 days.
Moving south, getting a boyfriend and having stress from work cause the pounds to add up again. Before I knew it, I was at my highest weight, 220.
I had heard things about #TheRevolution, but wasn't convinced. I started to make changes to my lifestyle on December 26th, 2014, and successfully lost 10 pounds over the course of 5 months.
I wasn't following the plan to a T though. I cheated - A LOT. And I was very irregular with my exercise. I'm lucky I actually lost weight.
Determined, I decided to buck up, quit cheating, and get on a regular exercise schedule.
I put a main focus on clean eating with some exercise for two weeks. I did not cheat for those two weeks, and I was able to lose 10 more pounds. I also felt AMAZING.
I had energy, and I wasn't even craving some of my "favorite" things anymore.
So what's all this about?
#TheRevolution #MyRevolution
